How to add Blenda to your Shopify store

Blenda adds a "See it on your wall" button to your product pages. A shopper taps it and sees the artwork on their own wall, at its real size. Setup takes about ten minutes, with no code.

1. Connect

Install Blenda from the Shopify App Store and open it. Paste your Blenda API key (Blenda dashboard → Settings → API keys) and press Connect.

2. Import your products

Press Import products. Blenda creates an artwork for each product, using:

  • Size: from the variant name ("50x70 cm", "A3", "36 x 36 inches"), or from the description if the product has only one size.
  • Image: the one whose shape matches that size.
  • Buy link: the product page.

Then press Sync now to connect the artworks to your products.

Import only adds products that aren't in Blenda yet, so run it again whenever you add products. If you sell more than art, set a product type in the app so only your art is imported.

3. Check the images

The preview shows your product image exactly as it is. Use an image of the artwork itself: straight on, cropped to its edges, with no room or wall around it.

If Import can't tell which image is the artwork, for example when a painting and a room photo of it are both square, the product appears under Choose the right image. Click the image that shows only the artwork.

Tip: write "artwork" in an image's alt text in Shopify, and Import always picks that image.

4. Choose your frames

In the app under Frames, pick one:

  • Never show a frame: you don't sell frames, or your images already show the frame.
  • Show with or without a frame: frames are an add-on.
  • Always show with a frame: everything you sell is framed.

Then tick the frames you sell: Black, White, Gold, Oak or Dark oak. If your products have a frame option (for example "Frame: Oak"), the preview opens in the frame the shopper has selected.

5. Add the button

Online Store → Themes → Customize → open a product page → Add block → Blenda Button. Place it under Add to cart and save.

By default it looks like your Add to cart button. In the block settings you can change the colours, corners (square, rounded, pill), style (filled, outline, text link), width and text, and add a frame icon.

6. Test it on your phone

Open a product page on your phone and tap the button. Shoppers install nothing. On a computer the button shows a QR code to scan with a phone instead.

One artwork, every size

You don't need an image per size. The button sends the size the shopper selected, so a 30x40 variant shows at 30x40.

The button doesn't show?

  • The product isn't connected: press Import products, then Sync now.
  • No size could be read: add it to the variant name (for example 50x70 cm) and import again.
  • You just imported: images take a few minutes to process. Press Sync now again shortly.
  • The block isn't on your live theme's product page: add it as in step 5.
